TWINS!

Thank you so much to the hundreds of people who e-mailed me about my announcement on Monday!  My apologies to anyone who I was not able to respond to by email.   I received so many heartfelt messages from parents of twins, inspiring stories and advice.  It made my week! I will keep you all updated in the weeks to come.

  1. I would like to congratulate you and your family on your twins. It must be exciting and scary at the same time. I have a 14 year old and boy she was excited to hear you news this am and said that now it’s my turn. God Bless you and I look forward to sharing along with all your viewers the excitement.

  3. Hi Irene!

I have to say…I think your “big announcement” SHOCKED a lot of people this morning! I, for one, and my husband, for another, had NO IDEA that this young, trim, svelte, tiny little woman (you) were even pregnant, let alone with twins. How exciting this must be for you! Please, keep us (and all the viewers) updated as to dates, information, how you’re feeling…and in return we will keep checking in for “updates”. Everyone loves a baby; and the more, the merrier! Congratulations again!!

  4. Congradulations! I have twins (plus another) and it is A LOT of work but your heart will over flow with love and pride. My little ones were 7lb 1 oz and 6lb 12 oz – a month early! Now they are 13 years old and football players – always were and always will be BIG HEALTHY BOYS!

Take care of your self now – it will pay out in dividends later!!

  15. Was thrilled for you and your husband on your exciting news. My son and daughter in-law had identical twin boys 14 months ago. They are such a joy!!! This is when you believe in miracles……

  16. Irene,
You look great and your news made me smile and gave me goosebumps. I wanted to suggest something to you that i did and am so thankful that i kept up with it. Journal, Journal, Journal! I tried to document something every couple of days throughout both of my pregnancies such as how i felt, my doctor’s appt statistics, things i was doing to get ready for the baby etc. I find myself referring back to it alot when i find some down time to read. I miss being pregnant because there were many times i was at work or in meeting and i would feel my baby move inside of me and nobody else in the room was aware of it. It is a wonderful miracle and i truly wish you and your husband, health, happiness and prosperity. I look forward to reading your updates.

  17. Congratulations Irene! May you and your twins enjoy the best of health and happiness throughout the remainder of your pregnancy and the years to come! I have two of my own, and I can tell you first hand that they will be the best things to ever happen to you.

    Best of luck!

  18. Irene, sincere congratulations on the wonderful news! I had twins back in 1981, a boy and a girl, and it’s the most amazing experience not only to be a mother, but a mother of twins! Best wishes to you and your family! I love tuning in to see all of you on Channel 3 news every morning, and I’m looking forward to watching the progress.

    Happy New Year!!

  19. When you announced that you were going to have a baby it was great but Twins!!.. bless you and your husband…and enjoy them..when I saw the ultra sound of them it is a beautiful sight to see..I even cried..Good Luck and Gos Bless you and your family

  20. Dear Irene: I watch your show every morning while my husband and I are sitting in our bedroom giving our 7 1/2 month old boy/girl (Max & Gemma) twins their morning bottles. I too was 41 years old when I became pregnant with twins (with alot of help and love from UConn Health Center) and couldn’t imagine (and still too this day it seems unreal to me at times) that I would ever have the two children that I always dreamed I would have. I had gotten to a certain point where I prayed I would be blessed with a baby, boy or girl it didn’t matter, so to find out that we were having twins was one of those moments in my life that I will never, ever forget.

I’ve accomplished alot of things in my life but nothing can compare to the pride and joy that raising these two wonderful little people brings to my husband and I. They are such a joy and a blessing, I get overwhelmed just thinking about them.

    Congratulations!

  23. Hi Irene
I just wanted to send congratulations to you and your husband on your great news… twins!! My friend had her identical twin boys at the end of June a year and a half ago. Twins are a handful but are great all in the same token.

I love watching the whole morning crew, you all look like you really enjoy working together, which is key to enjoying your job.
    Congrats again,

  24. Congratulations! We had identical twin boys 31 years ago this past December. We also have 3 other children. They are all such a blessing to my wife and I. We were both just happy for you when you made the BIG announcement. REMEMBER….Take good care of yourself and enjoy this upcoming time of your lives. God bless you and your husband!

  25. Hi Irene – Congratulations! I am a twin and it is very special! I hope I will have twins also. When you have twins you are twice blessed. God Bless you and your husbands and you new twins to be.

  26. Congratulations! I have 7 year old twin girls plus an 11 year old. The first couple of years were a LOT of work, but it has been a joy watching them grow and become each other’s best friend. My girls were born a month early and were 6 pounds, 4 oz. and 5 pounds, 15 ounces. Both very healthy and happy. My advice — get as much rest as possible now! Drink PLENTY of water, and sleep when you can. Eat what your body tells you. This is going to be the hardest thing you ever do — but also the most rewarding!! Good luck!

  27. Congratulations Irene,

I watch you and morning crew everyday. It gets me going in the morning. Twins are awesome. I have a son and daughter who are twin and they are 9 years old. The first few months are tough but once they sleep through the night, it gets better. I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy and delivery. Congratulations again.

  28. Irene,

I am so thrilled for you and your husband! There is no blessing like a child….two is double the blessing! I look forward to hearing your updates as your pregnancy progresses!

  29. I was thrilled to hear your news on Better Connecticut. You can’t be 41. You look stunning! I hope you have two very healthy babies. I had a baby at 45. There are a lot of late bloomers out there. My baby needed special care for a while, and you were a very bright spot in our day. He is doing wonderfully now. Thanks for all your hard work, and good luck!

  30. Congrats Irene! I am so happy for you!

As a mom of 2, I can tell you that motherhood is more rewarding than I ever thought it could be. I’m wishing you the best of luck!

  31. Hi Irene!

Have fun with the twin pregnancy! If you like to read pregnancy books, my favorite was When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads by Dr. Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein.

We had two sets of twins in 2 1/2 years and this book was really helpful in understanding the whole development of the babies. Twins are awesome!!! :)

It gets easier as they get older – ours are now 8 and almost 6 years old!

    Congratulations!

  32. Better late than never – was listening while getting ready for work when your big announcement was on the tele. I too had twin (girls) 7 lb and 6 12 oz but now (where does the time go) they are 18! I also had a 2 year old boy when the twins arrived. It is lots of work, and sometimes you’ll feel like an assembly worker, but well well worth the effort. More to love and they’ll certainly keep you on your toes!! Our best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy & delivery of the babies. Keep up the great work, love you guys in the wee hours of the morning! Julie

  33. Irene,
Best Wishes to you, hubby and entire family on the twins that will be joining your household shortly. Time has flown by. You look very healthy. I hope your delivery is quick and easy. I just have to say, you need to stand up on some of your segments and show some tummy. Be proud women. I loved being pregnant. It was the best..experience ever.Well enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and the best to all of you once again..P>S> The ultrasound pics looks like two girls..But who cares.

  34. I just want to say Congratulations! and WELCOME to the Mom’s of Multiples club! ( no need to sign up – you are one of us now! ). I have twin girls – age 2.
